Created by Eric Morley in 1951, Miss World pageant is the oldest
beauty pageant of the world.The Miss World Organization owns the annual
Miss World Finals.Aside from raising millions of pounds for charities
around the globe under the banner of its ‘Beauty with a Purpose’
program, Miss World is also responsible for increase in tourism in

Aishwariya Rai
Aishwariya Rai is an Indian actress and has acted in over 40
Bollywood movies. She started her career as a model and won Miss World
pageant in 1994. After winning the pageant she gave up her studies and
spent one year reigning as Miss World in London and then joined Indian
Film industry. Her first major hit was “Hum Dil Day Chukay Sanam” a film
directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This film also earned her Best
Actress Award. Aishwariya also remained in news for her relationship
with Bollywood actor Salman Khan until the couple separated in 2001. Rai
cited “abuse (verbal, physical and emotional), infidelity and
indignity” on the part of Khan as reasons for ending the
relationship.Her other hit movies are Taal, Dhoom 2, Joda Akbar etc.
Actress is currently married with co-Bollywood star Abhisheik Bachan.
Ksenia Sukhinova
This Russian beauty with 1.78m height, was born on August 26 1987 in
Nizhnevartovsk. The blonde won Miss Russia 2007 and Miss World 2008.
After winning pageant in Johanasburg she said “I am very glad to have
brought this crown to Russia. I am proud that it is Russia that got the
crown and I devote my victory to the whole country and to its every
citizen… and to my grandmother.” She also said that she hoped to improve
Russia’s international image to show the world that a girl from Russia
could personify kindness, beauty and happiness.She says raising funds
for charity will be one of her main tasks.
Ivian Sarcos
Born in 1989 this Venezuelian beauty is title holder for Miss World
pageant, who was crowned Miss World 2011 on November 6, 2011 in London,
United Kingdom.Being an orphan at the age of 8 , she was raised by the
nuns in a convent in Cojedes. She had intended to become a nun, but
joined modelling as a career later. After winning the title on
6th November she said “This has taught me that life, although it may be
bad, doesn’t have to end badly. Although I no longer have my parents, it
has taught me to be stronger”. “I want to carry on doing the wonderful
work that ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ and the Miss World organization does
and to help people in need,” she said, “I want to help people like me”.
Azra Akin
Akın was born in Almelo, Netherlands to Turkish parents.In 1998, at
the age of 17, Akın was selected Elite Model of Turkey; she then
participated in the Europe Elite Model competition in Nice, France where
she was in the final 15.On December 7 2002 she won Miss World beauty
pageant in London. Beauty with brains is right word for this lady.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra born 18 July 1982 is an Indian actress. Before
starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after
winning the Miss World title in 2000. She has worked in many Bollywood
movies and has won 4 Film Fare Awards. Fashion , Krish , Dostana ,
Kaminay and Don are her major hits.
