46-Foot-High "Wave" Is Actually A Natural Rock Formation In Australia

The perfectly-named "Wave Rock" is a natural rock formation that looks just like a giant ocean wave about to break.

Standing at about 46 feet high and 360 feet long, it is a flared slope that's part of Hyden Rock in Australia.

The beautiful bedrock is thought to have formed by the concentrated chemical weathering of groundwater at the base of it, forming the hollowed domes surrounded by solid granite.

Others argue that the flared slopes are formed from the erosion of inselbergs.

Whatever the cause may be, one thing is certain: Wave Rock is a wondrous piece of nature.
